At
Wildwood the search for excellence in guitar creation never
stops. Our newest builder hails from New South Wales, Australia: Mr.
Frank Grubisa. His “Merlin” is nothing short of inspiring,
and we are proud to be the exclusive distributor in North America. The Merlin is constructed with a small-mass headstock design and carve angle that allows for maximum sustain while retaining strength and rigidity. The one-piece quarter sawn neck mounts to the body with a five-inch tenon that runs straight to the bridge pickup cavity without taper. All frets are accessible throughout the entire register. The one-piece chambered mahogany body is mated to a two-piece book-matched carved maple top. The guitar is finished in nitrocellulose lacquer. Perhaps one of the most influential factors in the creation of Merlin tone is the string-through-body design that matches a bridge designed in the Grubisa shop with a mounting plane carved right into the top of the instrument. Tailpieces, break-over angles, rattles, buzzes and all other tone-robbing attributes have been reduced to legacy. The Merlin culminates from excellence of design, “perfectionist” lutherie, and the finest components available. We are thrilled to present this new found treasure! Sincerely, |
