LA Studio Great Tim Pierce And His Beloved Wildwood Spec Les Paul

A while back we released a blog piece about LA Studio monster Tim Pierce and his glowing review of the Wildwood 10 Telecaster from the Fender Custom Shop.  Now Tim’s back again, this time with “the best Les Paul he has ever owned”, the venerable Wildwood Spec Les Paul.  We are humbled and honored that such a legendary studio musician is using our creation to create big records for major artists.  Tim is an extremely versatile guitar player that covers many different playing styles. Tim has now recorded with Crowded House, Christina Aguilera, Seal, Colbie Caillat, Avril Lavigne, Tracy Chapman, Joe Cocker, Ricky Martin, Meat Loaf, Rod Stewart, Elton John, Michael Jackson, Bruce Springsteen, Rob Thomas, Madonna, Toy Matinee, Don Henley, Santana, Rascal Flatts, Chris Isaak, Jewel, Faith Hill, Celine Dion, Dave Matthews Band, John Legend, Gavin Degraw, Mika, Carolina Liar, Goo Goo Dolls, Uncle Kracker, Josh Groban, Mylie Cyrus, Demi Lovato, David Cook, Adam Lambert, Daniel Powter, Chris Allen, Shinedown, and many more.

It’s extra exciting to share this video of Tim playing the Wildwood Spec Les Paul because the artist that it features.  Tim does a regular video series for Pure Guitar magazine…  an innovative e-zine for guitar players, and this time, the featured artist is Wildwood Guitars Director of Strategic Marketing Taylor Mesple, who has been working with Tim since 2000.  Tim chose Taylor’s song to demonstrate his latest bag of tricks in layering guitar tones in the studio, and we are proud to share it here. It’s very valuable to be able to see into Tim’s process of WHY he plays the parts he does.

You can view the entire feature on Tim’s site here:

Tim is also featured in Taylor’s music video for the same song “Answer Your Own Question” (playing the same guitar!) alongside other legends including Paul McCartney drummer Abe Laboriel Jr.

We are eager to keep designing and dreaming up “Wildwood Spec” instruments for players like Tim.  A big thanks to Tim for all his great music over the years, and to being especially kind to the Wildwood family in word and in deed.
